Hit
An Object
Lecture Notes and Random
Activities:
*Children
can hit objects with their fists or the palms of their hands. Hands
should be used before using an implement.
*Children
can hit other objects besides balls (balloons, rolled-up socks, marbles, ball
of yarn, etc). Items to hit with can include: yardstick, long-handled wooden
spoon, bat, etc.
*Children
should first hit objects that are still (stationary). For example,
hit a ball that's on a table with your fist.
By the way, did ya' ever
wonder why young children have such a difficult time hitting a swinging pinata?
Please, buy or make ones that have strings
to pull instead.
*Increase
the difficulty of the above activity by having children hit something that's moving.
*How can you hit a ball
with your hand and make it bounce? (HIT ON TOP OF THE BALL)
How can you hit a ball high with your hands? (HIT UNDER THE BALL)
*Safety Rule to
teach when hitting objects with implements: Stay away from the hitter.
