Auto/Street Safety

Safety rules we can discuss and review with preschoolers:
(Visual aids are always helpful.)

Street Safety:
*We never cross a street alone.  We always go with an adult.
*When we cross the street (with an adult), we always "stop, look, and listen" before crossing.
*We never run across the street.
*We never play in the street.
*We never throw things into the street.

Auto Passenger Safety: While riding in a car:
*We use inside voices.  We don't scream, shout, or make lots of loud noises.  Why?
*We stay in our seats wearing our safety belts
*We do not play with window and door latches
(Note: Thankfully, cars now have window and door latches that can be controlled by the driver.)

Activities:

From Stormie:
Practice "stop, look, listen" with the children: stop, look to the left, then look to the right, then look to the left again.  "What are we looking for?"  (Cars, bikes, etc.)

Before you cross the street.
(Middle C, up to D, back to Middle C, down to Bflat, down to A, down to G)
Use your eyes, Use your ears,
(Down to F, up to G, up to A) rest (down to G, up to A, up to Bflat)
Before you use your feet.
(Bflat, down to A, A again, down to G, G again, down to F)
