From Stormie: Responsibility
is a big R word with a big meaning. I define it as "doing the
right thing even when we don't feel like it." For example, children
go to school and parents go to work. We may not always feel like going,
but it is our "responsibility."
Group Time Discussions/Role
Play Situations: *Alice and Amy had so much fun
playing with the doll house toys. When it was clean-up time, Alice
started putting all the toys away. What should Amy do? Why? *What
if you don't want to brush your teeth each day? *What
if I don't feel like coming to school today and being a teacher? *What
if "Mr. Al" (or your school janitor's name) doesn't want to clean our
classroom after we go home? *Lori told a lie about Joey
but she knows it's wrong to tell lies. What should she do? *Amanda
doesn't like following rules. Is that ok? *Talk
about how our classroom helper jobs relate to "responsibility."
*Talk
about how mommies are "responsible" when they fix meals for their children.
*Talk about how daddies/mommies are "responsible"
by going to work each day to make money to care for their families. ------------------
