WATER TABLE ACTIVITY: Sand
*From
Stormie:
Sieves: You can make sieves for
sand play by punching holes into pieces of heavy cardboard or small cardboard
boxes, or into the tops and sides of Pringles Potato Chip cans.
Pizza Pan Sifters: Buy a pizza pan from a thrift shop -- you know, the flat pans with the holes in them. What great sand sifters they make, and children even appreciate how pretty the sand is as it falls through the many holes.
Seashells: If you live near a beach, collect seashells for your sandbox. Even the smallest ones can add so much. If you don't live near a beach, you can often find bags of tiny seashells at craft or thrift stores.
*From
Kathy, in Leicester, England:
Add
glitter to the sand -- puts a sparkle in the children's eyes too! (Just
be sure children wash their hands after playing in glitter!)
*From
Lisa in Baltimore, Maryland:
Those
little scoops from formula cans are great for sand play.
