MINI-MUSIC APPRECIATION: Caribbean

From Stormie:

If you are doing lots of "summer at the beach" type themes this month, what better music than "Caribbean?"

Personally, my favorite is Reggae, but there's also other types (Calypso and Salsa, for example).

A xylophone is often used in creating this form of music -- hey, perfect for the letter Xx, huh?  (I've always hated how confusing the word xylophone is for preschoolers though.  I want so badly for it to start with a z -- like it sounds -- ha.)

Latin American Music can also conjure up images of the beach.

Gross Motor Fun: Take all the children "skippin' 'round the playground" to the sounds of Reggae.

Suggested CD: Reggae for Kids, by Various Artists
