Maintaining my webpages has now become a part-time career for me, and the cost of site maintenance has steadily risen over time. So, if you benefit from this website and would like to see it continue, please purchase "Stormie's Stuff for Teachers," and/or make occasional financial donations where possible to help defer the costs of keeping my site on the internet.

FIELD
TRIP: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Picnic In the Park
My favorite
thing to do on the last day of school is to have a picnic in a nearby park that
is very preschooler friendly with lots of playground activities available. All
parents are invited (and encouraged) to come and to even meet at the park rather
than going to the school. Obviously, this isn't always possible for some
working parents, in which case, you would then go through the routine of a field
trip.
If your school hours were 9-12 for the year, then the picnic can also
be those hours -- longer for an all-day program.
The picnic can be a
potluck where everyone signs up to bring a dish, or everyone can bring their own
sack lunches.
A nice big fat juicy watermelon is always a
good option purchased by the school, or provide ice cream and cake, or popsicles
-- something really special.
Usually (at least in my experience), we had our "end of the year" program the night before, so at the end of the picnic, everyone goes home.
