Raffi Albums/CDs With Polka Tunes:
*"Raffi's Box of Sunshine" or his "Everything Grows" (They both have a tune on them called "Mountain Polka")
*"Bananaphone" has a tune on it called "The Shmenge Polka"

You could introduce children to "Percussion" instruments (instruments that we hit or strike to play them -- like drums, cymbals, or triangles).

How about introducing children to the piano for the letter Pp?


Patriotic Music/Introduction to National Anthem

I've always liked doing marching activities and providing rhythm instruments for children to play to the sounds of patriotic songs.

About our National Anthem:
I feel that our national anthem is a song we should sing often in our classrooms.  Even though there are lots of words, most of which the children don't understand, and even though it's difficult to sing -- even for adults, it IS our national anthem.  And as teachers of young children, one of our responsibilites is to do all we can to promote good character development.  One of the six pillars of character is "citizenship."  I believe strongly in teaching (or rather modeling) a love of country.
