AMERICAN INDIAN CELEBRATIONS

SHIPROCK FAIR       
Where/Who? Navajo Indian Nation, New Mexico, United States        

When?
First weekend in October (date varies)
Why? To celebrate Navajo culture, heritage, and tradition
How?
Lots of yummy foods are prepared (like traditionally-steamed corn), native dress is worn, native ancient language is spoken, and several events take place that are enjoyed by all (ceremonial dancing, rodeo, parade, and more).

Songs of Shiprock Fair, by Luci Tapahonso; Anthony Chee Emerson, Illustrator: Nezbah, a Navajo Indian girl goes to the Navajo Nation's Shiprock Fair with her family.

Snack: What else but delicious corn on the cob!
