From
Stormie: Although I'm posting ideas below as often as I can,
my favorite ideas for setting up a pretend "grocery store" and/or "restaurant"
have been reserved for my "Food and Nutrition"
booklet. You can get this booklet and all my others through the "Stormie's
Stuff for Teachers" section of my website.
*The
Play Kitchen is perfect for setting up a grocery store or restaurant because related
items/toys are already there, meaning less work for teachers.
Skill reminders for parents: *When
we put out labeled food boxes and containers in our pretend grocery store, we
are exposing children to language. *Children
are practicing social development skills (getting along with others) and
character building skills when they role play.
*Children
are practicing fine motor and eye-hand coordination skills when they are
given items to pour and scoop.
