I
am so proud to now offer you my "Letter of the Alphabet" booklets. When
trying to create a language-rich environment in your classroom, you should find
all the words you will ever need in these booklets! Each booklet has these
features:
1. Dozens of words that begin
with one letter of the alphabet. For example, the words in my "Letter
Aa Booklet" all begin with Aa. The words in my Bb booklet all begin
with B and so on.
2.
The words I list in my booklets aren't limited to just the easier soft and
hard phonic sounds. For example, my letter Cc booklet includes words with
these phonic sounds: Soft c, hard c, ch, cr, cl, etc.
3.
For almost all words, I suggest either a children's book, an activity or
both.
4.
I place each word under a specific academic or skill category just as a
suggestion for where you might use the word in your lesson plans - but, as always,
it's your choice. For example, my Aa booklet includes Aa Words to use
in pre-math, language, physical skills (small and large motor), science themes
(like Aa Animals, Aa Foods, Environmental-Nature Aa words), creative expression
(including Art), Music Appreciation, and Socially Related Aa Words. And
I also include a section called "Aa Teacher Words of Praise."
5.
Each booklet page is printed out on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of white paper.
6. Booklets
will be mailed to you in a loose leaf format for filing in a notebook or sheet
protectors, or you can simply staple the pages together.
The booklets make great gifts for teachers or for anyone
who is teaching the alphabet to young children. They also make great conference
door prizes. If you are interested in collecting them for yourself or for
your school, go to the order form link at the foot of this page, and remember,
SHIPPING IS FREE!

page size is 8 1/2 X 11")
Art Place
the word artist above the easel. Do collages
of: apples, animal stickers and thumbprint ants. Creative Drama Add an apron to the play kitchen. Set up a pretend apple orchard. Act out a favorite children's book with actors,
actresses and an audience. Blocks, Transportation, Workshop Center Add a toy airplane
to the blocks center, and during your first group time of the day, suggest that
children use the blocks to create an airport for the airplane. Add a wheel with an axle to the blocks center. Add an anchor to the blocks center, or at least post a picture of one on the wall above the center with the word printed underneath it. Place an anvil with a rubber mallet and some pretend crumpled aluminum (foil) in the blocks center for the children to pound. Place a toy ax in the blocks center and let children chop pretend wood (Styrofoam chunks). (Provide a special area for this as it will get extremely messy - but oh what fun!) |
